Behind the closed doors in the music industry "Real" reality show on the Internet

Everyone wants to be a star but not everyone can stand up to the harsh realities of how long it really takes to become an "over-night success".

"Highway to Fame" is an Internet show that depicts the music business from the inside out and gives viewers the opportunity to see what it takes to make that journey from obscurity to international superstar.

The series is a "real" show that takes viewers behind the closed doors in the music industry. The show follows Directions International Management company as it takes the would-be artists to meet with label heads, listen to songs to find new material to record and go in the studio for their first major recording session. The management company takes the artists through the entire process, from meeting with a stylist and creating a new image with hair, makeup and wardrobe, to learning how to handle themselves in an interview and what to say when they meet with industry VIPs. "Highway to Fameä cameras are there to capture it all on tape and show viewers the joy and heartbreak of becoming a star.

The website for "Highway to Fame" and its accompanying www.highwaytofame.com site not only introduces these budding artists to the public, it gives viewers a chance to actually become involved in career decisions. People who visit the website or the myspace site are encouraged to voice their opinions on which artists they like, the songs they should record and their favorite images from recent photo shoots.Ê The sites also encourage viewers to submit their own ideas for singers and bands to be on "Highway to Fame".

The videos take viewers behind the scenes with the artists when they meet with record company executives and music publishers and hear the harsh realities of the business of music. Viewers also hear and see interviews with personalities like Jon Stewart, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Andy Griggs and Punchline, who offer advice and tell stories of their own struggles to make it in the entertainment business.

On "Highway to Fame's" myspace site people are leaving very positive comments about the show. "Thank you for listening to the public as we are the buying audience. Thank you even more for allowing us to be a part of the process." reads one entry. "A great concept; I look forward to seeing where this goes." says another fan. Yet another writes, "I'm one of those people who hates reality shows but I'm looking forward to this one."

"Highway to Fame's" artists are diverse but they all have the same dream - to be a star.

Dropout High, now called Like A Movie, is a rock band that worked with a manager for a year while remaining a local band. Now theyâre with "Highway to Fame" and they're already putting thousands of miles on their van as they travel from mid-America up and down the East coast and gaining new fans.

Rich is a cameraman for the "Jon Stewart Show". Jon is behind him 100 percent but is that enough to push him into the spotlight as a singer in his own right? "Highway to Fame" follows his progress as he comes to Nashville for the first time and follows his dream.

Tim, 18 years old from rural Alabama, and his family live for him to be a star. Father informs management that he doesn't mind dying as long as he knows Tim is going to be a star and he feels the show will do that for him.

Nikki spent hundreds of thousands of dollars while living in North Carolina, hoping to land a recording deal. All she ended up with was useless tapes with bad songs. Now she's on "Highway to Fame" and fans can follow her process as she learns what the business side of music is all about.
